Pika Energy, manufacturer of the T701 home wind turbine, introduces Econotower™, an affordable tower designed to lower the installed cost of residential wind systems. Together with Pika’s T701 wind turbine, the Econotower provides a low cost solution for homeowners to generate power from the wind. The Pika Econotower ships by UPS and is easy to install.  All parts are man-portable, making the Econotower well-suited to remote sites.

Shown above is a Pika T701 turbine mounted on an Econotower at a customer site in Valley Center, Kansas.  Paired with a 2 kW solar array, this Pika wind-solar hybrid system offers balanced energy production at a substantial installed cost savings.

The Econotower kit, currently available for tower heights of 63’ and 42’, features a steel base plate, galvanized guy cables, couplings, and hardware. The Econotower utilizes standard Schedule 40 threaded steel pipe. The guy plates are securely fixed in placed by couplings and bottled bracked, so there is no possibility of slippage. The Econotower can easily be raised and lowered with a gin pole and winch.

“The Econotower gives owners of Pika’s home wind turbine the fastest payback on their investment,” said Ben Polito, Pika’s president and lead mechanical engineer.  “Its field-tested design lets more homeowners enjoy the benefits of producing their own wind energy.”

The Pika Econotower is an appropriate option for large, open properties in windy regions. A small  turbine such as the Pika T701 should be installed at least 30 feet above any objects within a 300’ radius.  Contact a Pika dealer for guidance in siting a home wind turbine on your property.
